At 23 years old, Leah Andreone
is just beginning to unveil her talents. But already, holding nothing
back, Leah has offered a revealing portrait of honesty on her RCA records
debut, Veiled. The BMI songwriter's strength is in her compelling
lyrics, and her power to commute those words into forceful songs. Her
approach, she says, comes from making a conscious effort to be more
honest with herself and others. Although the San Diego native has been
compared to BMI songwriter Alanis Morissette and Kate Bush, she likens
her style to Elvis Costello and BMI songwriter John Lennon because they're
both "complex lyrically and emotionally." Working closely with producer
Rick Neigher, Leah penned the heartfelt "It's Alright It's OK" (the
first single), "Problem Child" and "Happy Birthday." Even though all
three relate to dysfunctional families, Leah's quick to assure they
are from outside observations -- not her own family. While songs like
"You Make Me Remember," a personal story of child abuse, reveal a darker
repressed side, "Imagining You" uncovers a more carefree spirit -- "(it's)
the single happiest song.
