Veiled RCA Put together Tori Amos, a little Weeping Tile and a touch of Sarah McLachlan and what have you got? A promising young singer from San Diego named Leah Andreone (pronounced-AnSdraySownSa With the release of her first album Veiled, Andreone is having much success in the United States and is trying to get into the Canadian market. Her recent appearance on the Conan O'Brien show had her playing her first single, "It's Alright It's OK," a catchy tune telling us that we may have our problems sometime, but hey, it's OK. That's life. If you're lucky, you can catch this video probably once a week on Much Music; the song is rapidly moving up the American charts. On track two, "Happy Birthday," Andreone brings out the whine in her voice, which fortunately is a good thing. The rest of the disc plays mellow tunes with nothing hard or heavy. In total there are eleven songs with the best ones at the very beginning of the disc and at the very end. This summer there will be a music festival called Lillith Fair. The festival was thought up by Sarah McLachlan and is all the fine talent of females in the music industry. Leah Andreone will be performing in this festival. All in all, this album is great. I am a great fan of the Canadian music industry but will give just about anyone a chance. After all, Leah can't help the terrible misfortune she has of being American, and I won't hold it against her. Veiled is in record stores now. My recommendation is that if you're a fan of female artists, especially the ones I listed above, give Leah Andreone a chance, and pick up her album. Mark Santone |
