Leah Andreone
Veiled (RCA)

Leah Andreone's voice is already memorably familiar through her catchy single "It's Alright It's OK." On her debut album Veiled, this 23-year-old singer/songwriter goes further than that statement of emotional denial, bringing in some powerful, Sly Stone-sounding, soulful groaning in "Who Are They To Say" and sweet, lethargic Juliana Hatfield-like pop in "Happy Birthday." With quirky, pining soulful tones twisted up with feminine ponderings, Andreone follows in the notable footsteps of Kate Bush and Tori Amos. Despite the comparisons and though she might be the next Alanis Morissette, Andreone strikes out on her own with strong song writing that mixes dark themes with refreshing sips of intoxicating bluesy-pop hooks.
